Fall is here. That means there are holidays and celebrations to be had very soon. What does that mean for you and your health & fitness goals? Check out SoFit's 7 tips below and get ready for more holiday blogs with healthy recipes and more.

  1. Set Realistic Expectations: Understand that the holidays are a time to indulge a bit. Instead of aiming for perfection, set realistic goals. This might include maintaining your current fitness level, eating at maintenance calories, or even a slight increase in calories/portions on certain days.

  2. Plan Your Workouts: Mark your calendar with your planned workouts, just as you would for holiday gatherings. Consistency is key, and scheduling your exercise sessions ensures you make time for them.

  3. Stay Active Together: Encourage family and friends to join you in physical activities. You can also join us on our SoFit app and get connected with our community. Email coach Tommy at Tommy@sofitsocal.com or download the app directly from our site. Go to sofitsocal.com from your mobile device and click on the "go to app" drop down button.

  4. Modify Holiday Recipes: Get creative with your holiday recipes by making healthier substitutions. Use whole grains, reduce sugar and fat, and incorporate plenty of vegetables. You can enjoy delicious meals without compromising your health goals.

  5. Practice Portion Control: While it's okay to indulge, be mindful of portion sizes. Use smaller plates, serve yourself a moderate portion, and savor each bite. This approach allows you to enjoy the flavors without overeating.

  6. Stay Hydrated: Sometimes, thirst is mistaken for hunger. Keep a water bottle handy and stay hydrated throughout the day. Not sure how much to drink? Check out this simple water intake calculator - Water Intake Calculator - How much water should you drink per day? (gigacalculator.com)

  7. Mindful Eating: Eat slowly. Use your senses when eating. Experience the smell, site, taste, texture, and how it makes you feel. Eating mindfully can help prevent overindulgence and promote better digestion.
